KHYAN 'African dissonance EP'
Khyan picked up his first set of 1210's in 1997 after being drawn into the
House scene. Taking inspiration from the soul & disco he'd been bought up
listening to, Khyan found himself with frequent DJ bookings as he gravitated
to London at the turn of the millennium. He duly sacked off his day job and
has gone on to perform at countless clubs, bars, parties & festivals across
Europe, Asia & Africa since then.
After chalking up a few house remixes and a Discovery Channel series
soundtrack, Khyan then formed the band 'Afterculture' which saw releases on
London's Broadcite label & French imprint 'Soulab,'. Spurred on by this
achievement, Khyan has been working on solo material which is now coming to
fruition with more releases on Broadcite. Big things to come for 2010!
EP details:
Dynamic deep house with a seriously heavy low end, the African Dissonance EP
juxtaposes traditional African instrumentation & rhythms with controlled
harmonic discordance.
Drawing inspiration from the elements and using exotic musical scales that
sound unusual & fresh to Western ears, this EP has a dangerous edge to it
that is guaranteed to garner attention from the dance floors.

Comments:
Phil Asher [restless soul] This is Dope ! Got my full support
DJ Crookid [ansenstral soul] Nice and deep. This is a pleasant suprise!
Eric soul [afro groove] - I really feel the overall vibes...I think you are really talented and good people
around you, the sound rocks, its sophisticated soulful production, its daring,
experimental but accessible and efficient..... I do think you guys are probably the
best thing on the scene as far as black progressive music is concerned in the UK,
Marcia Carr [Lady bugs] -
This is another superb release. My favourite track is Kalahari featuring Alex Herbert! I drops really well on in the clubs.. Many thanks from the lady bugs.
